Any other options Manny? I downloaded all drivers and tried all fn options and still the same. When it comes on says COMPAQ and F10=settup options then stays blank, but does work well otherwise with external monitor. Thanks Bruce

If there's nothing in your manual about switching the monitor and nothing in the setup section when you press F10, then I have nothing else. Since it works with an external monitor I doubt there's anything wrong with your video adapter component.

Try Fn + F4 Check to make sure the left latch (lock when you close the display) is clean and working freely. The left latch is what depresses a sensor on the motherboard to tell the system to kill the display when closed.

Dang! I had hopes on the latch. I did some rather extensive searching and those were the two best that I came up with. The rest seemed to deal with serious problems with a chip on the motherboard that controls the selection of which monitor to use.

Thanks Jay, Guess it will have to have a monitor attached to it:) Glad it isn't mine. Bruce

No problem, Bruce. I just wish Manny or I could have come up with a solution.
