I may have told you all before, but this is in answering the defragment question. We had an HP computer which was a family computer, then it was dedicated to the two teen sons' useage. You can imagine the amount of skateboarding video clips, MP3 songs, etc. were stashed upon this poor 700 Mhz Hewlett Packard. Aside from my monitoring virus control, I watched as the older son started delving into uncharted territories- spurred on by his computer instructor at school. I watched as this computer got way overloaded, and warned that they better remove a few programs before it gives up the ghost. Too late. I tried to run a defragment using the built-in tool. It returned a statement, "This drive is too fragmented to run this utility- try removing some programs and try again.." I did, and to no avail. The defragmenter was still unable to help. I did not want to witness the agony of two teens favorite stuff demolished with a total reinstallation of Windows Me, so I ventured out and tried Raxco PerfectDisk. It saved this computer from a clean slate wipe out. I have experienced the difference of the built-in defrag tool versus a more focused one. They are definitely tools worth your investment.

Yea, another winner! That's an interesting story - And a Win ME story to boot - since it points out a difference between these type of utilities compared to the built in one. They require less space on the hard drive to due their thing. Thanks.

I remember those WinME defrags, it's not that long since mine was put in the back room. When first bringing up the program and seeing all those little boxes scattered all over the place representing all your files well, look at them darting about across the screen as they get put back in their place It made such a difference when working after those little strays were back home were they belonged

Manny I just wanted to report back that I downloaded the trial version this morning. When I launched the Diskeeper program the first thing I did was analyze my system. What a mess. All I can say is that my system drive "C" was in Critical state. I can't say how long it took to make it Healthy. I left the house after 1 1/2 hrs and when I came home it was all set. Total run time for the entire system was probably 4 hrs. I had just run the Windows defragmentation this past weekend and the drive was still in bad shape. Now that my drives are all defragged, diskeeper will keep my computer cruising along and the Scarecrow will remain all in one piece. This is an excellent software. I encourage other members to take chance to win one of the remaining licenses. GO FOR IT!

The first time can be a little slow particularly if you have a large partition. It will be quicker as it get to know your system.
